PADDLE DEMO DAY! SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12: Join us and the representatives of the leading paddling manufacturers for a FREE DEMO DAY on the water. Hobie Kayaks and SUP's, Wilderness Systems, Ocean Kayak, Old Town Kayaks, Hurricane Kayaks, Current Designs and Wenonah. This is your chance to test and compare 2012 models side by side. This Demo is One Day Only! So put it on your calendar now! 10:00am - 5:00pm. Snacks and refreshments will be served. BOGEY AND BACALL RETURNS! Yahoo! Yes that's correct, you heard it right! The Bogey and Bacall will start and finish right here at Florida Bay Outfitters this February 4th and 5th, 2012. On Saturday the Bogey will come alive and include the classic categories of Sea Kayaks, Surf Skis, OC-1 & 2 and Canoes. The Bacall will host similar categories on Sunday, including a Recreational Division and also the biggest craze in the paddling world right now, Stand-Up Paddleboards! So you're probably thinking Frank & Monica would eventually forget how much time and effort was put into the event and would soon do it again, Fat Chance! Although we did truly miss all the fun and camaraderie of the event. The great news is that someone else was missing all of this more than anyone and just couldn't stand it anymore. Many of you may already know them since you have most likely raced right alongside them (but most likely behind them) at the B&B and other racing events abroad. SO I am sure all of you would like to give Anita Allen and Mike Regan a big warm welcome and to show your support for their new Racing Program "Race The Keys" and as the new Official Hosts of the Bogey and Bacall Classic. Florida Bay Outfitters of course, will remain a big supporter and a main sponsor for the B&B as well as participate in any other future events (Hint, hint, the Rum Runner!) that "Race The Keys" may provide with their future success! "Race the Keys" now has their website open www.racethekeys.com and is accepting Registration Now! Volunteers Wanted! If you are not a racer but would like to participate in any way, please contact Anita & Mike at info@racethekeys.com 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Yes that's correct, you heard it right again! Florida Bay Outfitters is now officially 20 years in the paddling biz. FBO's first delivery of Perception Kayaks arrived in November of 1991 (during a recession) at the Key Largo Bike Shop (building across from Mrs. Macs Kitchen) where good friend Emmett Wattigney offered space at his business. In lieu of rent payment for a helping hand in his shop Florida Bay Outfitters was born! Just two years later and a steady growing client base, Florida Bay Outfitters knew it was time to take its next big step and moved into Robbie Whitehurst's old Fruit and Vegetable Stand at mile marker 104. Wow, 18 years later (surviving another recession) we continue to paddle on, thanks to our supporting friends, customers and our fantastic landlords, the Whitehurst Family (Caribbean Club Owners), for sharing their piece of Paradise, and friendship with us throughout these years. To celebrate our success, we decided that we would host this years party during the Bogey and Bacall event, giving a chance for all our friends who may have moved from the area, time to plan a get away visit for this fun filled weekend. The 20 year celebration will take place on Saturday evening February 4th.
