| A 3 mile out and back course (subject to change) that heads straight to the Bogey Channel directly across Blackwater Sound. for a beautiful tour through the southeastern end of the Everglades National Park. Sunday, February 5th, 2006 START TIME: 10:00 a.m. | ||||||||||||||||||
| RULES and SPECIFICATIONS | ||||||||||||||||||
|
All racers shall carry on board and be made accessible a Coast Guard Approved PFD. It is the call of duty to assist anyone in a life threatening situation. If the distressed is not in imminant danger than you may proceed. Safety Patrol will be available to assist capsized boaters. We recommend carrying additional safety gear such as paddlefloats and bilge pumps to help yourself get back in the race. Bulkheads or positive floatation is required for all race boats. |

Due to an increase in true racing type kayaks, all categories with listed boat lengths are now subject to a minimum width of 20 inches. Any boat sized under the 20 inch minimum will be classified as a Surf Ski or a K1 Kayak Unlimited. Please be sure to have all boat specs completed on your registration. |

REGISTRATION |

| Pre-registration is recommended. Race packages will be given on a first come / first serve basis and will include: T-shirt, raffle tickets, water bottle, dinner/party ticket (200 available), etc.. All racers must check in between 7:30 and 9:30am on race day. Race application must be filled out completely and signed. Pre registration fee is $50.00 per racer for each race or $95.00 to enter both races (only one race package included). | ||||||||||||||||||

PRIZES |

| Medallions will be awarded for first, second and third place in each class. Each participant will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win additional prizes worth up to $5000.00 (racers need to be present). Participants will also receive 1 free chance to win a Perception Kayak and/or a Indian River Canoe. Additional tickets may be purchased separately. | ||||||||||||||||||

| Take a chance this year to win a Perception Kayak and/or a Indian River Canoe. Five chances for $5.00. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit a local charity (to be announced). | ||||||||||||||||||

BEACH PARTY |
||||||||||||||||||
| A Sunset Beach Party will take place on Saturday evening at 6:00pm with food, drink, and music for anyone wanting to mingle with racers, manufacturers reps and FBO staff. Live music for entertainment and dancing! This party is free for the first 200 registered racers (non-racers $20.00). This years beach party will take place at the Key Largo Watersports Club right next door to Florida Bay Outfitters. Barbecue dinner is limited so hurry! | ||||||||||||||||||

| Besides the two races there will be many other things to do, such as checking out gear at our annual Florida Keys Paddling Festival. Other entertainment and attractions are being coordinated.
