1:30pm - 4:30pm Paddling with Finesse and Efficiency

FRI FEB 3RD 1:30-4:30pm Sea Kayaking - Paddling with Finesse and Efficiency: In this workshop we'll begin by revisiting the basic strokes - fine tuning and polishing them for greater effectiveness. We’ll then move onto leans and braces. By the end of this class you’ll be steering your kayak with ease and leaning your boat with confidence. Be sure to take advantage of this one day opportunity!             8:15am - 9:15am Yoga with Karen Knight

You don’t have to sit like a pretzel to enjoy the benefits of practicing yoga. The exercises in this introductory yoga workshop will expose paddlers to poses that will help them with strength, flexibility, balance, flow of breath and range of motion – thus enhancing their paddling performance. Students need to bring a pad or towel to spread out on the ground. Time:  45 minutes

To be a skillful paddler, you do not need to have a lot of muscle mass or upper body strength. Kayaking is a sport about technique, good judgment, and knowledge of your environment. In this all women’s class, you will learn techniques to help you paddle with finesse, grace and efficiency.

5:30pm - Join Karen Knight for a Sunset Celebration - Karen has been described as a “ballerina on the water.” The National Champion in Interpretive Freestyle Canoeing, from 1996 until her retirement from competition in 2000, Karen is recognized internationally for her paddling finesse and precision. There is no mystery in rolling a kayak. It takes timing, technique, practice, and the willingness to get wet. In this class we will present a step by step progression that will help you on your journey to learn a smooth and effortless roll (C to C, Sweep, Extended Paddle, and Greenland Rolls).
